Kyler Murray trade proposal No. 1: New Orleans Saints – Pick No. 16 and No. 19 in 2022 and Jameis Winston

The New Orleans Saints might not have a top-10 pick to waive in the face of the Arizona Cardinals to try and land Kyler Murray, but that doesn’t mean they can’t put together an intriguing package.

Earlier this month, they traded their 18th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft as well as future picks to land No. 16 and No. 19 in this upcoming draft. There was a lot of speculation that this was done with another move in mind and while the idea of jumping ahead of Carolina for Kenny Pickett has been floated, maybe it makes more sense for them to get a player who has performed well in the NFL instead.

Not only can the Saints offer two selections in this round to Arizona to help them re-stock the shelves with talent, but they can offer up a quarterback who is capable of starting right now and keeping them competitive until they figure out their next step — and that next step could be to package No. 16 and No. 19 to land someone such as Malik Willis who can run a similar offense to Murray for Arizona.

But it’s still Winston that makes this deal work. Arizona has a strong team that’s close to breaking through and having a veteran who was 5-2 before tearing his ACL in 2021 helps keep them on track while not forcing them to start someone such as Willis before they’re ready to hand him the keys.
