2022 NFL Mock Draft: Bengals and Browns close out round one
31. Cincinnati Bengals: Travis Jones, DT, Uconn
For most of the 2021 campaign, it seemed as though the Cincinnati Bengals were going to have to go after an offensive lineman here. But then they added three new starters in free agency and suddenly it no longer looks like a weakness.
That allows them to target Travis Jones of Connecticut who gives them a massive defensive tackle to help replace Larry Ogunjobi. The Bengals have the making of a team that could be a problem for years to come, especially after adding so much strength to both lines with their free agency moves as well as this selection.
Trade: Cleveland Browns send pick No. 44, Baker Mayfield, and a conditional third-round pick in 2023 to Detroit Lions for Pick No. 32
32. Cleveland Browns (via Detroit Lions via Los Angeles Rams): Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
The Baker Mayfield saga is eventually going to end and the prediction is that it happens on draft night. At this point, it’s hard to see anyone giving up much for him but the Cleveland Browns find a taker in Detroit — which is where John Dorsey is.
The GM who took Mayfield No. 1 overall ends up bringing him in as competition for Jared Goff and while they give up the 32nd pick, they land No. 44 as well as a conditional third in 2023.
Cleveland then adds Treylon Burks from Arkansas as they put a big-bodied wideout across from Amari Cooper. General manager Andrew Berry has shown he’s not afraid to make big moves and that’s why he pulls this off — and in the process, gives Deshaun Watson an elite receiving corps with Cooper, Burks, and tight end David Njoku.
