2022 NFL Mock Draft: 3-rounds with surprise blockbuster trades
By Randy Gurzi
17. Los Angeles Chargers: Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia
The Los Angeles Chargers are looking impressive on paper right now. They kept Mike Williams who has built a great rapport with Justin Herbert. As for Herbert, he’s being mentioned among some of the best in the game as he took a huge step forward in year two as a starter.
On defense, they added Khalil Mack and will have him playing opposite Joey Bosa. As good as that duo is, it will be even more deadly if they added a 340-pound defensive tackle who draws the attention of multiple blockers.
Jordan Davis of Georgia is that exact player and while he might have issues playing all three-downs, he can do enough damage when he’s on the field to make it worth this selection.
18. Philadelphia Eagles (via New Orleans Saints): Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia
Back on the clock at No. 18 is the Philadelphia Eagles and they elect to go defense here as they take Nakobe Dean from Georgia. The UGA defense was unbelievable in 2021 and their star players should be all over the first round of this draft.
Dean was a player who really came on strong at the end of the season as he turned into a household name. He made one huge play after another during their title run and the Eagles can use someone such as him patrolling the middle of their defense.
