Las Vegas Raiders should sign Xavier Rhodes

Something about the Raiders never changes, like signing aging veterans to one-year deals.

Why stop now?  They need help in the secondary, but mostly cornerback.  Xavier Rhodes could be a fit for them.

In 2019, his last year with the Vikings, Rhodes was abysmal.  However, he had a nice bounceback season in 2020 and was serviceable in 2021.

Rhodes has rebuilt himself a bit since that 2019 season and should be able to earn a few more contracts.

It’s clear that Rhodes has entered the “free agents teams sign when they get an injury at a key position” category, but I think the Raiders should jump on him now.

The AFC West is obviously loaded with talented receivers and offenses, so fortifying the secondary should be each team’s top priority.

As of now, only the Chargers and Broncos boast secondary’s of note.

Rhodes wouldn’t be a flashy signing, but a smart one.  New head coach Josh McDaniels is surely bringing that “Patriot way” over to Vegas, and I think the presence of Rhodes helps that mission.
