Ranking NFL wide receiver trios in the league today

28. Indianapolis Colts- Michael Pittman Jr, Parris Campbell, Ashton Dulin

The Colts come off a season where Carson Wentz threw 27 touchdown passes, but was considered bad enough to get shipped out of town. Is Matt Ryan going to be better? That depends.

Michael Pittman Jr. is an up-and-coming stud but Parris Campbell has failed to develop, and the number three is listed as someone named Ashton Dulin. Maybe Ryan can elevate this bunch, but in April 2022 they are still near the bottom of these power rankings.

27. Jacksonville Jaguars- Marvin Jones Jr, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones

You can’t fault Jacksonville for trying. Ownership emptied the checkbook in free agency in an attempt to get Trevor Lawrence some help, but after almost $100 million in contracts what do they have?

Christian Kirk and Zay Jones.

Kirk is a fine player, but they already have a highly drafted slot man in Laviska Shenault Jr.

The Jags gave Jones $24 million. That’s insane. At any rate, the team will run out a trio of Marvin Jones Jr., Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones. This actually might be a serviceable trio, but at the cost relative to the projected production, if you are a Jags fan you should he concerned.

26. Chicago Bears- Darnell Mooney, Byron Pringle, Equanimeous St. Brown

How much help will Justin Fields need to take the steps to the next level? Darnell Mooney will certainly help. Mooney is a fine player but the receivers behind him are suspect at best.

Byron Pringle comes over from Kansas City, and Equanimeous St. Brown from Green Bay, however the fact a team as receiver needy as the Packers let him go tells you what you need to know about St. Brown. Fields is likely to struggle his second year as his receivers fail to make plays.

25. Philadelphia Eagles- DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal

The Eagles feature DeVonta Smith, last year’s first-round pick, but little else. Preseason star Quez Watkins and journeyman Zach Pascal round out this trio, but their success will hinge on Smith and his development.

The former Alabama star has the skill set to elevate his running mates, and much will depend on Jalen Hurts’ accuracy or lack thereof. Despite the upside presented by Smith, this is still a bottom-end unit.
