The New York Giants have one of the best running backs on their roster. Will Saqoun Barkley earn back the respect he deserves in 2022?

Injuries play a role in the length of each athlete’s career. Staying healthy is a commitment that each professional makes to his franchise while under contract.

If an employee comes to work unprepared, their value as an asset to the company decreases.

The New York Giants are currently assessing the value of their former first-round pick. With an important season coming around the corner, the Giants will need to rely heavily on Saquon Barkley.

Saquon Barkley gave the Giants a Promising Start

Building a team requires time and patience. A message of understanding and perseverance should be passed down from the owners to the players. Members of the New York Giants franchise have exhausted a great deal of both while resituating their team’s legacy.

It’s been six years since the bean years since the “G Men” experienced a winning season. After winning three games in 2017, the Giants decided to invest in the future.

Drafting a franchise running back seemed like the solution for Pat Shurmur and his staff. An outstanding collegiate career made Barkley a standout prospect.

The second pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft was the price of acquiring Penn State’s former star. It did not take long for Barkley to prove his worth. Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards during his rookie season.

His 11 touchdowns poured life into the hearts of fans who love their blue and white.

Success would follow Saquon Barkley during his sophomore season. Barkley accumulated over 1,300 yards rushing in 29 games. The acquisition of quarterback Daniel Jones in the 2019 NFL Draft helped New York continues their rushing attack.

Jones’ 3,027 yards passing, and twenty-four touchdowns added another element to the team’s offense.

Despite their small progress, the Giants still struggled to win games. Their second consecutive losing season caused Pat Shurmur to lose his job after his second at the helm.

Keeping their pro Bowl rusher healthy will be the focus of Brian Daboll’s offense. Recovering from injuries during the regular season has become a habit for New York’s fourth-year back.

Five injuries have caused Saquon to miss a total of 21 regular-season games.

Trading their former first-round pick would not benefit the franchise once Barkley returns to health. His track record from his first two seasons shows how valuable he can be.

Returning to the gridiron is a dream come true for one of the league’s most explosive rushers. If the Giants plan on making a statement this year, they must do it using Saquon Barkley.
