2022 NFL Draft: Atlanta Falcons trade up for Malik Willis

When the draft process first started, NFL media bashed the quarterback class. Unlike years past, this class doesn’t have a big-name quarterback sitting atop of the class.

However, there are some intriguing prospects, none bigger than Liberty’s Malik Willis. Sure, the Falcons can sit at No. 8 and wait for their quarterback. Why risk it? The Panthers are sitting at No. 6 and they are in the quarterback market.

Instead of waiting, the Falcons should jump their division rivals by moving up to No. 5.

It wouldn’t take much to move up three slots, but the Falcons hold four picks inside the Top 100.

Malik Willis is a dynamic quarterback capable of making the coveted off-platform plays. He has a sturdy build with elite arm talent.

Arthur Smith was limited with Matt Ryan, who was a statue in the pocket. With Willis, he can keep his quarterback on the move. He can install more RPOs and maximize his quarterback’s athleticism.

With Marcus Mariota on the roster, Willis doesn’t have to start right away either. There’s no reason for the Falcons to sit back and wait for their future franchise quarterback.
