2022 NFL Draft: New York Jets trade for Deebo Samuel

Jeff Darlington was the man who broke the news about Deebo Samuel wanting a trade. The news came as a shock, given the Pro Bowl wide receiver just proved he’s the focal point of the 49ers’ offense.

Samuel was next in line to get paid, and he earned it. Samuel had a career year. He led the league in yards per catch with 18.2. In his third season, the former South Carolina wide receiver had 77-catches for 1,405-yards and six touchdowns.

He also proved he’s more than a wideout after rushing for 365-yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. Imagine bringing that to the Jets.

With two picks in the first two rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft? The Jets have the capital to bring Samuel to New York, and they should. They could trade their No. 10 and No. 35 pick to get a player that can change Zack Wilson’s life.

Samuel is dangerous after the catch. Even as a wideout, he’s a tone-setter, and potential safety valve. He’ll work the middle of the field and make plays downfield as a boundary guy.

The Jets have the money to pay him and the capital to get him. A wideout room with Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Deebo Samuel is a solid core for a young quarterback.
