2022 NFL Mock Draft: Jaguars, Lions land stud defensive ends
By Randy Gurzi
29. Kansas City Chiefs (via San Francisco 49ers through Miami Dolphins): Boye Mafe, EDGE, Minnesota
There’s no way it was an easy decision for the Kansas City Chiefs to trade Tyreek Hill but they did get quite the haul in return. The first draft pick they received in the package comes due here and they use that to add Boye Mafe from Minnesotta.
Mafe is 6-foot-4 and 261-pounds and really showed off his explosiveness at the combine when he ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash and 38-inch vertical leap. He’s also a powerful player who broke out in 2021 for the Gophers.
30. Kansas City Chiefs: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State
Back-to-back picks come at 29 and 30 for the Kansas City Chiefs and now they add Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson. In need of another speedy wideout who can fill some of the roles that Tyreek Hill had, Dotson comes in and has some big shoes to fill.
He should be up to the task after recording 2,757 yards on 183 receptions in his career for the Nittany Lions. He also improved every season up until he went for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns with 91 receptions in his senior season.
Kansas City is going to miss Hill but with players such as Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman, and JuJu Smith-Schuster under contract, they should be just fine — especially if they add a home run threat such as Dotson in this draft.
