Deebo Samuel trade proposal to accept no. 2: Kansas City Chiefs

49ers receive:

  • 29th pick
  • 50th pick
  • 94th pick

Chiefs receive:

  • WR Deebo Samuel
  • 172nd pick

In terms of overall value, this is pretty similar overall to what the Chiefs acquired in exchange for Tyreek Hill.

Kansas City has a plethora of picks in this year’s draft. There’s no way 12 rookies are making the Chiefs’ championship-ready roster, so they should be willing to invest the picks they just received in a reliable, proven weapon for Patrick Mahomes to get the ball to.

Would it be nice to have a receiver on a rookie contract? Sure, but rookies are also extremely unpredictable and the Chiefs are contenders right now.

Deebo Samuel in the building would help Kansas City keep pace with the rest of the incredible moves the AFC West has been making in 2022.

Samuel would be a game-changer for Andy Reid and while he wouldn’t replace Tyreek Hill’s speed, he wouldn’t necessarily need to.

If Kansas City was willing to pay up to a certain point for Tyreek Hill, it stands to reason they have it in the budget to pay up for a player like Samuel who may not require as high of a price as Hill at this point.

Every team has a line in the sand they won’t cross for certain guys but Samuel is younger than Hill and the Chiefs would be able to maximize his skill set.
