NFL star Saquon Barkley traded during the 2022 NFL Draft?

Saquon Barkley is the poster child of why you shouldn’t invest high draft capital into running backs. Despite being an elite talent, he has failed to make the Giants’ offense potent or turn the team into a winning franchise.

As well, his body has already taken a beating due to his heavy workload.

Now reports are surfacing that Barkley may end up getting dealt this offseason. While the Giants could use a boost to their running game, something that a healthy Barkley can provide, getting some resources for him to build other aspects of their team makes more sense.

As well, Barkley is in the final year of his deal, and odds are he will want a new contract sooner than later.

If I were a Giants fan, I wouldn’t expect much if Barkley was delt. Perhaps a trade-up on day two or a fourth-round pick is likely the max value you could get out of Barkley in his current state.

Getting next to nothing for him after using a top-five pick for him isn’t ideal, but it may end up being the best-case scenario for the team during this upcoming draft.
