The defending NFC East champions have had a busy offseason. And apparently, the Dallas Cowboys aren’t finished when it comes to adding veteran players.

This past season, the Dallas Cowboys won the NFC East for the first time since 2018. They finished 12-5 after a disappointing 6-10 showing the previous year.

Mike McCarthy’s club led the NFL with 530 points and quarterback Dak Prescott threw a franchise-record 37 touchdown passes.

But the team’s appearance in the playoffs was short indeed in the form of a 23-17 setback at home to the wild card 49ers. There have been plenty of changes to the roster this offseason.

Veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper was dealt to the Cleveland Browns. Guard Connor Williams and wideout Cedrick Wilson signed with the Miami Dolphins. Pass rusher Randy Gregory inked a big deal with the Denver Broncos.

The Cowboys haven’t done much when it comes to adding veterans. There were the signings of defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. and wide receiver James Washington. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t more experienced performers yet to come.

Dallas Cowboys CEO, executive vice president and player personnel director Stephen Jones recently made an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. As the NFL draft rapidly approaches, he stated that the organization wasn’t done when it came to adding players (see Spotrac) who are still on the open market:

"We feel like we did do a good job with it in terms of re-signing, for the most part, the players that we wanted and felt like we could keep under the current salary-cap environment. I do think we were able to fill (our needs), for the most part. We’re not done yet in free agency. We’ll see what opportunities come up out there. But we feel like we can go into the draft pure again and pick the best players on our board.Stephen Jones (via Pro Football Rumors)"

Jones’ team does have nine picks in this week’s draft – four of those in the fifth round. They could be busy in Las Vegas as well. But apparently, the reigning NFC East champions will be kicking the tires sooner than later when it comes to those NFL veterans still looking for work.
