The Detroit Lions made an aggressive move to jump up the draft board, and now they get to add Jameson Williams to Aidan Hutchinson as part of the Lions Day One haul.

When the Detroit Lions chose to move up from 32 to 12, the consensus was that the franchise was thinking about taking a quarterback in the draft. The reality is, that’s not the case, and given who Dan Campbell is as a head coach, we can expect the unexpected.

Jared Goff is still in Detroit and will be the signal-caller for the team, at least for now. Thanks to a big move and mortgaging more draft capital, Detroit jumps up the board and takes Jameson Williams to lead their wide receiver core.

It was a big haul and a big surprise for the Vikings to trade down that much, but they picked up a lot of draft capital, a second and third alongside it for the 12th and 46th pick. But for the Lions, they get a speed threat in the NFC North.

The Detroit Lions look to get faster with the selection of Alabama’s Jameson Williams.

A knee injury affected Williams in the national championship game, a loss to Georgia, but while he was at Ohio State and Alabama, Williams was a threat against any defense.

Given how the NFC North has been bleak for the Lions in recent years, this flash-type player is a blessing.

Moreover, with Aidan Hutchinson also coming into the mix, the Detroit Lions now have the opportunity to have some speed and acceleration on the offensive side of the ball. No doubt Campbell and Brad Holmes are jumping up and down because of this move.

Detroit has hope, at least for now. They grabbed two of college football’s best players who will look to bring their winning traditions to the Motor City and help reverse their fortunes.
