Green Bay Packers get an upgrade at OT in 2022 mock draft

While the Packers had a great season in terms of record, one of the biggest things that may have derailed them was the injuries they suffered along the offensive line.

For starters, David Bakhtiari was hurt for most of the season with an ACL injury he suffered in the previous season’s playoffs. The one player who was supposed to pick up Bakhtiari’s slack was Elgton Jenkins, and he did while he was healthy, but he also suffered an ACL injury.

Even rookie Josh Myers suffered multiple injuries, notably also to his knee.

As it stands right now, the Packer’s offensive line has a bit of a question mark surrounding it. The Packers lost their former right tackle/offensive lineman in Billy Turner as he signed with the Broncos earlier this offseason. Now the question is who will play right tackle for the Packers.

It could be Eglton Jenkins which means the Packers will have to find somebody to play guard for them, or it could be a draft pick like Abraham Lucas.

Depending on the scheme, it is sometimes hard to see how a college prospect will handle pass rushing or how good a player is in pass protection overall, but Lucas has been put through the wringer.

Before Mike Leach joined the Mississippi State Bulldogs, he was a part of Washington State, which is the main reason why Lucas has received so many pass-blocking snaps.

While he has received a ton of pass-blocking snaps, he also has shown some skill in terms of his pass sets. The best thing about Lucas’s pass-blocking ability is how quick and light he is on his feet as he is able to stay in front of almost any defender, despite being a big lineman.

While Lucas is light on his feet and can stay in front of almost anybody, he isn’t the strongest player in the world. Lucas will occasionally get walked backward much more often than you would like, and he doesn’t really have any power in his game.

The one thing Green Bay coaches might not like is his lack of experience and quality when it came to run blocking.

Lucas will need to add some power to his game and will need to work on his run blocking but give him a little bit of time, and he might be able to turn into a solid pass-blocking right tackle for the Packers.
