One thing that Packer fans have been asking the Packers to improve has been the defensive tackle position. Of course, the Packers have one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL in Kenny Clark, but outside of him, they haven’t had a quality one for a while now.

The Packers did make a signing at the defensive tackle position in the form of Jarran Reed, but they still need help at the position, that’s where Butler comes in.

Coaches will love Butler for his energy alone. Every play Butler comes out of his stance like it’s his last one ever, just very little laziness, if any at all, to his game. His motor also shows up in his hands as he always keeps them working and likes to get into blockers’ chests.

While he has some things coaches will love in terms of his energy, there is a fair bit of stuff he needs to work on. While Butler had a good vertical jump, all of his other testing numbers at his pro day and combine were lackluster, to say the least.

Butler also needs to work on disengaging opposing linemen as well as of now, he relies on his quicks, and his ability to penetrate, but with his less than ideal testing numbers, that might not fair very well in the NFL.

Butler does have some negatives, but he has enough positives and has shown enough flashes to more than warrant the Packers taking him in the 4th round.

Other Players Considered: Neil Farrel Jr, Tyreke Smith, Jelani Woods

Jelani Woods. 7. 888. Scouting Report. Tight End. Virginia. player. Pick Analysis

Due to the injury bug hitting the Green Bay Packers fairly hard last year, they were forced to play a number of tight ends. Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara, Dominque Daffney, and Robert Tonyan all received a number of snaps.

While it wasn’t the worst position in the world, the Packers would be wise to bring in some competition.

Remember how I said that the Packers like big athletes at edge and wide receiver? Well, that also happens to be true for the tight end position as well.

Jelani Woods is a big boy who can absolutely move. Woods is 6’7, 270 pounds, and ran a 4.61 40-yard dash at the combine (!). Woods is just a freak of nature as he also put up great numbers in the 3-cone, bench press, broad jump, and vertical jump.

Watching Woods play is something to behold. Woods can destroy teams at times as he shoots off the line in a hurry and is ridiculously hard to bring down because of his speed and giant size.

While there is a lot to love with Woods’s athleticism, he still has some work to be done. Woods has a bit of a drop problem as he lets the ball get into his chest, rather than going out with his hands and attacking it. Woods also isn’t the most refined route-runner in the world either.

Woods will certainly be a bit of a developmental prospect due to his poor catching ability and route running, but with testing numbers that are off the charts, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Green Bay Packers to snag him.

Other Players Considered: Jake Ferguson, Michael Clemons, Charlie Kolar
