As we get later and later into this draft, the players are going to have bigger flaws. In my opinion, the goal of NFL teams who are drafting players in the later parts of the draft should be to find guys who can fill specific roles or draft players who are projects. In Jones’s case, he likely leans toward filling a specific role.

The Packers currently have a solid cornerback room with a couple of young guys in Eric Stokes and Jaire Alexander, with Rasual Douglas who may have just had the best year of his NFL career last season.

The one thing that Packers could look to bolster would be their backups. Most of the Packers’ backups are young guys who haven’t received many NFL snaps, and if they would, it would be a little worrisome.

Jones is a quicker athlete who has some twitch to his game as well. He has smooth enough hips to stay with most receivers and has enough top-end speed that you won’t have to worry about him getting completely burned. He also has enough ball skills that he can fight through the catch point.

The biggest concern about Jones is his size. Jones came in at 5’10 171 pounds, which is light, to say the least. Jones’s lack of size shows up on tape as well as some bigger receivers can take him for a ride.

Jones will likely be a slot corner due to his quicks and lack of size, but if he is able to be a decent backup for Green Bay, it will be a good pick-up for the Green Bay Packers.

Other Players Considered: Chase Lucas, Jaivon Heiligh, Isaac Taylor-Stewart

820. 11. Running Back. Oregon. CJ Verdell. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

One thing that has become very true for the Packers in recent years is their love of using multiple running backs. Last season both Aaron Jones and A.J Dillon received a large number of snaps. The Packers do have a backup in the form of Kylin Hill, but I wouldn’t be too shocked to see if the Packers liked CJ Verdell also.

One thing that stands out in Verdells game is his speed. He has excellent straight-line speed. Verdell also has decent agility and is a fairly fluid mover in open space. Verdell also has a strong mentality and doesn’t give up when defenders attempt to wrap him up.

While Verdell doesn’t give up when people try to take him down, it sometimes doesn’t matter due to Verdells lack of balance and power. Verdell also isn’t the quickest guy in the world, you won’t see many dynamic cuts out of him.

Verdell is a solid late-round running back and will likely catch the eye of the Green Bay Packers’ front office due to his straight-line speed.

Other Players Considered: Zonovon Knight, Kenedy Brooks, Josh Johnson
