Having already taken Derek Stingley Jr at No.3 overall, the Houston Texans use the pick acquired from Cleveland to take Kenyon Green, hoping for a positive return on their investment.

Once again, the Houston Texans are back on the clock, and they have that luxury thanks to the Deshaun Watson trade.

Watson is now in Cleveland, which means Houston will be rolling with Davis Mills for the foreseeable future. Also, the franchise has a high level of draft capital to work with at their disposal, and given how there are several talented players in this draft, they should be considered fortunate.

This only begs the question of who will join Derek Stingley Jr as the second first-rounder in Houston?

That answer has been solved thanks to the selection of Kenyon Green with the 15th overall pick following a trade with the Eagles. Like Stingley, Green will be expected to help jumpstart a turnaround in Houston for a team hoping to return to the postseason for the first time since 2019.

The Houston Texans address their offensive line with the selection of Kenyon Green.

Initially thought to be a potential top-10 pick, Green now slides to Houston, and the Texans hope that he can be a crucial building block for the progression of Davis Mills.

Moreover, it emphasizes how much Lovie Smith is a stickler for trench play, regardless of both sides of the ball.

It also concludes a hectic day for the Texans when they have shown that Smith has learned from his time away from coaching in the NFL. Have someone protect your quarterback while looking to intercept the other team’s quarterback.

It’s a new day in Houston with the SEC coming to H-Town and hoping to help them blast off back into the postseason for the first time in years. Both sides got help, but there is still a long way to go in the draft.
