Having taken Ahmad Gardner with their first of two first-round picks, the New York Jets add Garrett Wilson as their second with the hopes of having two building blocks for long-term stability.

The New York Jets entered the 2022 NFL Draft with two first-round picks. Regardless of who is chosen, the hope is that success will follow. They are fortunate to be picking twice due to the trade of Jamal Adams to the Seahawks, which got criticism at first, but the ultimate remains to be seen.

However, the Seahawks still picked in the first round, thanks to the Russell Wilson trade, and they picked one slot ahead of where Gang Green currently stands. Does that matter?

It depends on how fortunes work out with Charles Cross for Seattle. In the meantime, the Jets are focused on doing what’s best for their team.

Last year, we saw a heavy abundance of offensive players taken by the franchise, including QB Zach Wilson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Michael Carter, and Elijah Moore. We saw them take Ahmad Gardner with the 4th pick earlier this evening.

At 10, they choose to go with Garrett Wilson from Ohio State. It makes sense for several reasons, and it is possible that Gang Green landed two suitable members.

The New York Jets make a statement by selecting Garrett Wilson with the 10th overall pick.

Offensively, the Jets had to rely on an inconsistent Corey Davis and a rookie Elijah Moore to help the development of Zach Wilson last season.

Now, they get someone like Garrett Wilson to help stunt that growth. 1,058 yards and 12 scores for Wilson in Columbus last year are impressive stats and can add juice to Gang Green.

Here’s the reality. The Jets need all the help they can get to contend within the AFC East. Miami, Buffalo, and New England are not going anywhere, and they will look to stay atop the board while keeping the Jets down low. Garrett Wilson can help turn around the fortunes if Wilson can continue to grow.

The Jets should be happy that they got two players with impressive college resumes looking to reverse the franchise’s fortunes. Day One looks to have been a success for Gang Green as two Ohio football players are making their way to the Metropolis.
