Los Angeles Chargers pick No. 17: Zion Johnson, G, Boston College: Zack Martin

At No. 17, the Los Angeles Chargers brought in Zion Johnson from Boston College. This was an excellent pick as they landed a guy who gave up zero pressures in 2021. Justin Herbert needed some help on the line and they got that for him.

Johnson’s pro comp is Zack Martin from the Dallas Cowboys. What makes them similar is their versatility as both can play outside or inside ‚— but like Martin, Johnson will be best served at guard. They’re also both highly intelligent and team leaders.

Tennessee Titans pick No. 18: Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas: A.J. Brown

Picking A.J. Brown as a comparison for Treylon Burks is seriously a coincidence since Burks will now be replacing Brown. During a wild first night full of trades, the Eagles sent pick No. 18 to the Tennessee Titans who quickly took Burks from Arkansas.

What makes these two similar is their sheer size. They’re both built like tight ends who can bully smaller receivers. Tennessee will miss Brown but they did a great job replacing him and will save a ton of money.

New Orleans Saints pick No. 19: Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa: Taylor Lewan

With their second pick on the night, the Saints brought in Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning. They needed to replace Terron Armstead and they did exactly that. Penning is a large human who plays with a mean streak, similar to Taylor Lewan.

That kind of play can get you in trouble at times, but more often than not, it gets the rest of the line fired up.

Pittsburgh Steelers pick No. 20: Kenny Pickett, QB, Pitt: Teddy Bridgewater

Kenny Pickett won’t have to go far as he will travel from the Pittsburgh Panthers to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pickett becomes the first quarterback off the board — but that comes in a draft that doesn’t have elite talent at the position.

That’s why the player he’s compared to isn’t exactly a superstar — Teddy Bridgewater. Of course, we have seen TBH20 can win when everything around him is in place, and the good thing for Pickett is that the Steelers do have a solid roster around him.
