Malik Willis team no. 3: Atlanta Falcons

Besides the Carolina Panthers, the Atlanta Falcons might have the absolute worst QB situation in the NFL right now.

With all due respect to Marcus Mariota, the Falcons are likely the favorites to be picking first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

That may not change if the team drafts Malik Willis, but Willis would at least give this team a potentially viable option for the future.

Even if the Falcons’ plan is to attack the 2023 NFL Draft at the quarterback position, quarterbacks are currency in the NFL. This is a year in which Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot are potentially playing with house money after ownership OK’d a trade of Matt Ryan.

If that’s the case, a player like Malik Willis would be the ultimate dart throw.

The Falcons would be taking him with a second-round pick, so there’s little pressure for that player to become a franchise quarterback.

Atlanta has Cordarrelle Patterson back on a new contract, they drafted Kyle Pitts last year, and they just drafted Drake London this year.

Marcus Mariota could serve a similar role to what we saw from Tyrod Taylor on other teams in recent years, paving the way for a player like Willis to come in and play loose as soon as he gains mastery of the playbook.
