After last year’s crushing playoff loss, the Buffalo Bills made moves in the offseason and hope Kaiir Elam can help put the finishing touches on a championship team.

13 seconds. Two words, almost as painful as Wide Right. The Buffalo Bills have had to shoulder those words in the offseason and now in history.

As such, Buffalo had to find some sort of way to address the defense that, despite its ranking, faltered at the worst possible time last season.

Outside of Tre’Davious White, there isn’t a true No.2 cornerback that can help alleviate stress in the secondary, and now via trade, the Buffalo Bills feel as if they have found a potential solution. It may not have been a huge trade, but it was one that Sean McDermott and his friends felt had to be done.

So, thanks to their bargain, the Bills move up to take Kaiir Elam out of Florida. Does it address a need? Yes. Is there anything to like about this pick? Yes again. Finally, can he contribute right away? That depends on where he is placed.

The Buffalo Bills hope that Kaiir Elam can be part of one final push to reach Super Bowl champion status.

Over his career in Gainesville, Elam has six interceptions and 20 pass breakups. Additionally, he fits the mold of what teams are looking for in an outside cornerback in terms of physique. Plus, his father played in the league, which helps.

The Bills have historically been a franchise that gets so close but never gets over the hump. These last few years, thanks to the drafting of Josh Allen and other crucial pieces, they have gotten closer and closer.

By drafting Elam, they not only fill a need but they believe it is the push they need to get over their hump.

Buffalo is getting closer and closer. They added Von Miller, re-signed Ryan Bates, and made a move up the board to get Kaiir Elam. So far, so good, but there is a lot of draft left. Brandon Beane still has more work to do if he wants to complete their final push.
