Dallas Cowboys Draft Pick 56: Drake Jackson, EDGE, USC

One thing that did fall in the favor of the Dallas Cowboys on day one was how far players such as George Karlaftis and Jermaine Johnson fell. While Dallas didn’t pull the trigger on them, it did mean that there were several EDGE players who fell into Round 2.

Prospects such as Boye Mafe, Cameron Thomas, Logan Hall, and Arnold Ebiketie are all still on the board — as is David Ojabo who could miss a lot of time with an Achilles injury, which is why he hasn’t been taken.

With all those names likely to go early in the second round, USC’s Drake Jackson could end up sliding to Dallas. If he does, they need to run to the podium with his name on their card. Jackson is one of the players who can end up being a better pro than he was a collegiate player since he was mainly playing on raw talent and athleticism in college.

Putting him on the same line as DeMarcus Lawrence and allowing him to work with defensive coordinator Dan Quinn — who can use him in both a stand-up role and three-point-stance — will only help unlock his massive potential.

Should the Cowboys make this move, it could help round this draft out, even if they have to wait for both their top two players to season a little.
