The Dallas Cowboys were physically outclassed in the playoffs despite winning the NFC East. They hope that by adding Tyler Smith, they can reverse those fortunes.

Isn’t it tiring for the Dallas Cowboys fans to constantly see their team come up short in the playoffs? Doesn’t that get frustrating?

Do they have to continue being subjected to ridicule by Stephen A. Smith and then rely on the New York Knicks’ failures to get an opportunity to clap back?

The reality is, for the troops in Dallas, nothing will change unless the strategy changes. As for the draft, recent years have proven to be quite fruitful.

Linebacker Micah Parsons blossomed last year, and retrospectively speaking, good players have arrived in Dallas and played quite well, yet nothing to show for it.

So, with the 24th pick, Dallas opts to go with Tyler Smith. From an outside perspective, it’s not the flashiest pick in the world, but when the tape is turned on and you look closer into the type of player Smith is, there is a reason to nod your head and tip your cap to Dallas as they may have found another potential impact player.

The Dallas Cowboys address the right area but take a big risk on Tyler Smith

Tyler Smith has the physical tools to be successful in the NFL but has struggled with penalties during his time at Tulsa. The fact that the Cowboys were heavily impacted by penalties last season brings cause for concern.

Ultimately, the question arises as to whether or not he will take over for Tyron Smith, or does he slide right into guard and stay there for his career. Mike McCarthy will make that decision. On the bright side, he is aggressive, so playing guard won’t necessarily be detrimental to his game.

Dallas knew that their offensive line needed some attitude, and they got that kind of player. If Smith can keep the penalties down, everything will be fine, but that is a big “if.” Still, at least the Cowboys fixed a significant need on their roster.

There is plenty more to fill, but that is what the rest of the draft is for.
