The Jacksonville Jaguars traded back into the first round and secured themselves an emotional and gifted leader in Devin Lloyd with the 27th overall pick.

The Jacksonville Jaguars started the draft off with the surprising selection of Georgia’s Travon Walker with the first overall pick. Still, that was not going to solve all their defensive woes.

With Myles Jack gone, the defense was in need of a leader at linebacker that can galvanize the troops while helping the offense out.

Thankfully, by trading up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, DUVAL may have just found their next leader.

Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd is not only one of the best linebackers in the country, but his ability to help a team overcome adversity and tragedy is well documented. The Utes’ 2021 season was not just remarkable; it felt like a season of destiny.

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have found themselves a future All-Pro leader in Devin Lloyd.

Last season, Utah tragically lost two players, running back Ty Jordan and cornerback Aaron Lowe,  to gun violence. Devin Lloyd was one of several players that helped bring the team closer together and go on a remarkable run to a Pac-12 championship and a berth in the Rose Bowl.

2021 was memorable for Lloyd; he was named first-team Associated Press All-American and the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. His ability to tackle sideline to sideline while dropping back into coverage without any issue made him a prime choice to be the top linebacker in the draft.

Quay Walker may have gone ahead, but in retrospect, it looks like the Jaguars are okay with their selection. They got a defensive end with tremendous upside, and they also secured an impact player at the linebacker position.

Doug Pederson has every right to feel giddy about his first draft day with the Jaguars.
