This NFL Draft class was really that bad at QB

We haven’t seen a quarterback class this bad in some time. While there were heavy arguments as to which direction teams would go, only one quarterback ultimately went in the first round.

The Steelers got their quarterback of the future in Kenny Pickett, but the remainder of the class fell out of the first round and are still available.

To say it is rare for a situation like this to occur is an understatement. A quarterback hadn’t gone this late since the 1996 draft and the last time we only saw one quarterback go in the first round was in 2013.

Teams naturally overvalue quarterbacks considering their importance to team success. That said, no one was swayed enough to take any of the top names in this class in the first round.

Sure, the slide for these names will end sooner than later. There are still a plethora of teams that need a quarterback, and the second round will likely see a run on the position sooner than later.

That said, the willingness of the league to let most of this class fall like it did is telling. This class was as weak as many thought it was, and it will be a surprise to see many top quarterbacks come out of this group.
