5 knee jerk reactions to crazy first round of the 2022 NFL Draft

Some teams don’t want to pay receivers
There was no bigger storyline than what happened with the receivers during the first round of this draft. After Drake London went off the board, there was a huge run on the position that saw six receivers go in the next ten picks.
That alone points to the fact that some teams would rather draft a top talent than try and afford to sign one.
What was even more remarkable was both the Ravens and Titans dealing their top wideouts. As already stated, the Ravens got the better side of the deal with the Cardinals.
The Titans, however, also moved A.J. Brown in the first round. They got one of the Eagles’ first-round picks as well as their third-round pick in the deal and proceeded to draft the last first-round receiver in Treylon Burks.
There is still the potential for some other big-name receivers that want new deals to get moved as well. While it will likely require top picks next year, Deebo Samuel and Terry Mclaurin could all be on the move during this draft.
It seems as if lines have been drawn: either you pay for the top talent at receiver or you intend to draft them and hold onto them for 3-4 years before moving on.
It was a wild first night of the draft. Through all of the surprises, there were some telling results by the end of the first day of the event. While there is still plenty more draft to get through, the first round yielded some extremely interesting results.
