Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft saw some big-name prospects get their names called later than they wanted to, but it’s okay — they made the list.

There was absolute chaos on Day 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft. We saw a ton of teams make moves to fill needs and use the Best Player Available strategy. There were some blockbuster trades that included Marquise Brown and A.J. Brown.

We saw some picks that raised an eyebrow or two, like Darryl Stingley going No. 3 overall and the Lions trading up for Jameson Williams. The end result saw a ton of great prospects fall to Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Day 2 is where the draft begins. It’s where teams find the guys that have a chip on their shoulder because they weren’t one of the first 32 picks. These players are far from outcasts, however.

Across the NFL’s 100+ year history, we’ve seen All-Pro, Pro Bowl, and Hall of Fame talent come out of the later rounds. Players with draft cache were still on the board for teams. While they were some great prospects who went to great situations. However, only a few names could make this list.

5. David Bell, WR, Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are entering a new era with their franchise quarterback, Deshaun Watson. Jarvis Landry was the Brown’s leading receiver in three of the last four seasons — he’s still a free agent.

They brought in an elite route runner Amari Cooper to go along with Donovan Peoples-Jones. David Bell is perfect for the Browns as a boundary receiver opposite Cooper. He’s capable of playing outside better than Peoples-Jones, who fits best at the slot.

Bell’s 40-yard dash and lack of elite explosiveness made him a valuable option for late Day 2. However, what makes him a steal is his route running.

He’s a smooth route technician who uses both head fakes and double moves to get open. He understands where to sit in zone coverage and how to use his body to shield defenders.

At 6-1 212-pounds, he uses his size, hands, and power to beat press coverage. The former Purdue wideout uses a variety of releases to get himself free and available for the quarterback. He’s a volume receiver who can make plays in the quick or intermediate passing game.

The Browns likely found themselves a future 100+ catch guy. Don’t be surprised if Bell earns the trust of his quarterback early.
