Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 NFL Draft grades: B-

20. Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh
52. George Pickens, WR, Georgia
84. DeMarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M
138. Calvin Austin, WR, Memphis
208. Connor Heyward, FB, Michigan State
225. Mark Robinson, LB, Ole Miss
241. Chris Oladokun, QB, South Dakota State

The Pittsburgh Steelers, in general manager Kevin Colbert’s final draft with the team, landed the player they hope can be the long-term replacement for Ben Roethlisberger.

After signing Mitchell Trubisky in free agency, it felt like the Steelers had backed them into a corner during the draft at the quarterback position but it turned out that they got the chance to take the first one off the board.

Kenny Pickett had an outstanding final season at Pitt but it wasn’t good enough for a complete Joe Burrow-like rise up the draft board.

Still, he went from being a Day 3 pick to a top 20 pick and the Steelers have to be confident he can play from day one.

George Pickens in round two comes with some level of risk, but I love the process by the Steelers, always using premium picks on potential weapons for their offense.

DeMarvin Leal could be a great value on day three and was projected much of the last year as a first-round player.

Calvin Austin is a fun pick in round four and could come in and return punts and kicks immediately. He’s a small player but has outstanding athleticism.

The Steelers made some intriguing picks late on Day 3 including taking Cam Heyward’s brother Connor at the fullback position.

Quarterback Chris Oladokun is a very interesting late-round flyer.
