Dallas Cowboys 2022 NFL Draft grade: B

24. Tyler Smith, OL, Tulsa
56. Sam Williams, EDGE, Ole Miss
88. Jalen Tolbert, WR, South Alabama
129. Jake Ferguson, TE, Wisconsin
155. Matt Waletzko, OT, North Dakota
167. DaRon Bland, CB, Fresno State
176. Damone Clark, LB, LSU
178. John Ridgeway, DL, Arkansas
193. Devin Harper, LB, Oklahoma State

The Dallas Cowboys came into this draft with three pretty prominent needs and they addressed them one by one with their top three picks, taking the best player on their board at each spot.

In the first round, they landed Tyler Smith who will likely start off as a left guard or right tackle. He needs to clean up his technique as he was flagged for way too many penalties last year, but the upside to be a long-term starter is certainly there.

In round two, the Cowboys got a speedy edge player in Sam Williams who can really get after the quarterback. After losing Randy Gregory in free agency, they needed to add someone off the edge and Williams is coming off of a season in which he racked up 12.5 sacks.

He also ran a blazing 4.46 in the pre-draft process.

Jalen Tolbert is a great value in round three and gives the Cowboys another intriguing option at receiver along with CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and newcomer James Washington.

On day three, the Cowboys got some intriguing value and players they obviously felt were great fits for their specific schemes.

Matt Waletzko is probably the most interesting day three pick for them with 36-inch arms and some wild testing scores for his size.

Damone Clark is another very solid pick and the former LSU linebacker could make an impact early on. He joins another former LSU Tiger in the Cowboys’ linebacker group with Jabril Cox, a 2021 pick who is expected to make an impact this season.
