Denver Broncos 2022 NFL Draft grade: A+

64. Nik Bonitto, EDGE, Oklahoma
80. Greg Dulcich, TE, UCLA
115. Damarri Mathis, CB, Pittsburgh
116. Eyioma Uwazurike, DL, Iowa State
152. Delarrin Turner-Yell, S, Oklahoma
162. Montrell Washington, WR, Samford
171. Luke Wattenberg, OL, Washington
206. Matt Henningsen, DL, Wisconsin
232. Faion Hicks, CB, Wisconsin

The Denver Broncos get an A+ for their 2022 NFL Draft class because they traded their top two picks for Russell Wilson.

There are some who probably don’t agree with the automatic A+ for acquiring a star quarterback, but there’s no better use of draft assets if you can make it happen.

On top of getting Russell Wilson, the Broncos managed to upgrade their pass rush by adding Nik Bonitto with the 64th overall pick, as well as adding a pass-catching tight end in Greg Dulcich to replace Noah Fant.

Those two picks will have an impact early on for the Broncos, but they might have got their best values at 115 and 116 overall with Damarri Mathis and Eyioma Uwazurike, who could both be starters in Denver’s defense by 2023.

The remaining day three picks were spent on depth and potential “down-the-road” starters but the Broncos dug deep for a player who will help them in the return game — Samford’s Montrell Washington.

The team traded up for Luke Wattenberg, an interior lineman out of Washington, so perhaps they see starting potential there as well.
