AFC North 2022 NFL Draft pick: Kyle Hamilton, S, Baltimore Ravens

Safeties don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Kyle Hamilton should feel disrespected after he dropped to No. 14. After the 2022 NFL season, Hamilton will be talked about as one of the best rookies in the 2022 NFL Draft class.

The Baltimore Ravens stole Hamilton in the first round on a defense already loaded with talent. Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters are returning from injury, which makes the rookie job a lot easier. 2021 was a down year because of their injuries. When healthy, the duo made the Ravens to a Top 3 passing defense.

Back then, Earl Thomas was the safety. Now they’ll have a young 6-4 220-pound rangy, fast, strong safety. Hamilton will dominate the AFC North and beyond and may hear his name in the Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation.

NFC North: Quay Walker, LB, Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have been looking for an inside linebacker for some time. After passing on a wideout, Brian Gutekunst filled that void with a potentially great prospect in Georgia’s Quay Walker.

Nakobe Dean got all the hype when the two of them played at Georgia, understandably so. However, 6-4 240-pound inside linebacker is ready to carve his own path in the NFL. Walker will step into the Packers lineup as the focal point on the second level.

The National champion is built like an edge rusher and runs like a tight end. He showed off his speed by running a 4.52 40-yard dash at the combine. He’s fluid with good hips, which helps him in coverage.

Walker also plays downhill and uses his length to stack and shed guards. It’s easy to imagine that the former Bulldog will lead the Packers in tackles with over 100 and dominate as the NFC North’s best rookie.
