AFC East: Jermaine Johnson, Edge, New York Jets

Ask any draft analyst, and they’ll tell you that the New York Jets got an A. Some may argue they won the draft, and Jermaine Johnson is part of the reason why. The former FSU player is an edge rusher with elite potential.

He has excellent athletic traits he displayed at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine. Johnson runs a 4.58 40 yards dash, and he’s 6-5 254-pounds with room to grow. Johnson wins with length, quick hands, and technique to.

He’ll line up week one on a team with two potentially dominant defensive tackles. Jeff Ulbrich’s zone heavy press scheme relies heavily on the front seven. Johnson will come off the edge against teams with suspect offensive lines.

The Jets will play a few teams with unproven quarterbacks, with the Jaguars, Bears, Lions, and Steelers all on their schedule. Not to mention in his own division, where he plays the Dolphins and Patriots twice a year. Don’t be surprised if he ends the season with double-digit sack numbers.

NFC East: Jalen Tolbert, WR, Dallas Cowboys

I know the New York Giants drafted two studs in the first round, Oregon’s edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and Alabama’s offensive tackle Eva Neal. While the Eagles drafted the Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

However, the Cowboys took a wide receiver to fill a void left but Amari Cooper in Jalen Tolbert.

The Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy will become the primary play caller. We that he and OC Kellen Moore love to throw the ball. Tolbert can be a volume receiver in an offense that lost its No. 1 wideout.

Michael Gallup is also recovering from an injury, so Prescott needs some help. The former Jaguar can play inside and out for the Cowboys and will quickly become one of Prescott’s favorite receivers. Don’t be surprised if he leads the Cowboys in catches.

Jerry Jones drafted Tolbert in the third round, and he could have NFL Media wondering why he wasn’t picked earlier.
