2022 NFL Power Rankings: Who improved most after NFL Draft
By Randy Gurzi
18. New Orleans Saints
Re-signing Jameis Winston was a solid move for the New Orleans Saints but they also tried to go after Deshaun Watson — which means they might not be 100 percent sold on him. He was 5-2 last season as the starter but that was with Sean Payton, who has since retired. Winston will also be trying to recover from a torn ACL.
They do have Andy Dalton, which should finally end the Taysom Hill experiment at quarterback. New Orleans did also finally add some receiving help in Chris Olave and if Michael Thomas can get healthy, they could end up having much more success in the passing game.
Having said all that, they will be moving on from Payton while Winston gets his legs back under him. They might not start out the season as strong as they finish it.
17. New England Patriots
Mac Jones proved to be a great pick last season for the New England Patriots. He wasn’t overwhelming, but he did everything he was supposed to do and got them into the playoffs.
Looking ahead to 2022, it’s hard to get too exciting about this team even with the growth they showed in 2021. New England seemed to reach for every draft pick and while many other teams in the AFC improved, they stayed pretty much the same.
