3. Jalen Virgil, WR/KR, Appalachian State

If you want to make it in the NFL as an undrafted free agent, you’ve got to be able to show what you can do on special teams.

Luckily for former Appalachian State star Jalen Virgil, that shouldn’t be any sort of issue.

Virgil is one of the best kickoff return specialists in this year’s rookie class, averaging 30.1 yards per kickoff return in college with three touchdowns.

He didn’t return a single punt at Appalachian State but that could change as he transitions to the NFL and has to prove his worth in a variety of ways.

With 4.37 speed, Virgil has a chance to impress early.

2. Ja’Quan McMillian, CB, East Carolina

Unfortunately for Ja’Quan McMillian, he couldn’t run a fast 40-yard dash before the 2022 NFL Draft.

Fortunately, he is an All-American with outstanding production.

This past season at East Carolina, McMillian racked up 16 passes defended along with five interceptions. He also had a career-best 56 total tackles and a forced fumble.

The Broncos gave McMillian a total guarantee of $75,000, which is among the best any of their undrafted players received. They also brought him in for a top-30 visit before the Draft, so this is clearly a player their staff is high on overall.

Even if McMillian doesn’t crack the initial roster, I think his ability to make plays on the ball and create turnovers will find a place in the NFL.
