3. Washington Commanders vs. Minnesota Vikings (Week 9 – November 6)

Old friends? Of course. This time though, it has nothing to do with Wentz. Instead, it has something to do with the quarterback in the other locker room.

Kirk Cousins back at Fed Ex Field? Come on, that writes itself. We’re going to get one of two things in this game.

Either Cousins is going to torch the Commanders. Throwing for a good 350 yards and three-plus touchdowns. Or he’ll fall apart. We’ll see Cousins turn the ball over a few times and struggle to get any type of movement for the Minnesota Vikings.

Both will lead to a lot of headlines. But obviously, there’s only one outcome that Washington fans will be rooting for. Actually, is that true? Let’s be honest. Some fans (and analysts) had a weird infatuation with Cousins – and still do.

He hasn’t played for the team in years. He’s also had no real success (winning-wise) in Minnesota. Despite that, it feels like there’s a decent section of Commanders Twitter that brings him up anytime they can.

If nothing else, that will be an extremely entertaining week on social media. All those arguments will be great for some laughs. And hearing people try to pretend like Washington would have won some Super Bowls if they decided to give Cousins an insane bag is always good for a laugh.

That’s nothing against Cousins either. He’s a very solid NFL quarterback. Not top-tier though. And giving him a lot of money wasn’t going to do the Commanders any good except handcuff them when it came to signing other players to contracts.

This is also a big game for Washington though. Minnesota will likely be fighting for a postseason spot in 2022. Getting the win against them could be huge when the end of the year comes around.

It’s also a big statement for the Commanders. Beat your old “franchise quarterback” it’s been a few years now and you need to be able to move on. Show that you’re doing good without them. We’re going full-blown “we won the breakup” on Cousins.
