The reigning NFC East champions have certainly had an up-and-down offseason. Are the Dallas Cowboys still in the market for some veteran additions?

They certainly didn’t look like a Super Bowl contender by the time the playoffs rolled around. The Dallas Cowboys rebounded from a 6-10 season in 2020 to capture the NFC East for the first time since 2018.

Mike McCarthy’s club finished with a 12-5 record – including a spotless 6-0 mark within the division – and totaled an NFL-high 530 points. It marked the first time that the franchise led the league in scoring since 1980.

When it was all said and done, the club was mediocre vs. teams outside of the NFC East. And McCarthy’s squad came up short at home in the wild card playoffs – a 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

There have been some big-time changes to the roster. And there could be more coming considering Stephen Jones said the team wasn’t done with free agency. Hence, here are three suggestions that could improve the team.

3. T Daryl Williams (Released by Buffalo Bills)

Left tackle Tyron Smith and right guard Zack Martin remain quality performers in the league. In fact, via Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus (subscription required), the Cowboys’ offensive front graded out as the league’s best in 2021.

But two of those starters are now elsewhere. Right tackle La’el Collins was released this offseason and latched on with the Cincinnati Bengals. Left guard Connor Williams inked a deal with the Miami Dolphins.

The latter could be replaced by 2022 first-round pick Tyler Smith. The former University of Tulsa standout saw action at guard at the club’s recent minicamp.

As for right tackle, could the Cowboys take a look at veteran Daryl Williams? After five seasons in Carolina, he played and started a total of 38 games (33 regular season, 5 postseason) for Sean McDermott’s club the past two years.
