Buffalo Bills: J.P. Losman, QB

The Buffalo Bills weren’t bad with Drew Bledsoe but they also weren’t great. After an 8-8 season and a 6-10 campaign, the quarterback they added in a trade with their rivals, the New England Patriots, led them to two-straight 9-7 campaigns in 2003 and 2004.

However, he never made it to the playoffs with the Bills and ahead of the 2004 season, the front office decided they needed to get younger. With Bledsoe turning 32 that year, they elected to draft J.P. Losman who spent time at Tulane and UCLA while in college.

The 22nd overall pick, Losman spent his rookie season on the bench and threw just five passes with three completions and a pick. Still, the Bills elected to turn to him full-time in 2005 as they moved on from Bledsoe — who headed to Dallas. Losman wasn’t successful at all, going 1-7 while completing just 49.6 percent of his throws.

He rebounded some in 206 as he had 3,051 yards with 19 touchdowns but still went just 7-9 as a starter. From there, he was 2-5 and finished his five seasons in Western New York with 33 touchdowns and 34 interceptions while winning 10 games and losing 23.

Losman was a step in the wrong direction and Bills fans surely don’t want to re-live that stretch.
