NFL trade target #2: DK Metcalf, WR, Seattle Seahawks

One of those teams that could be willing to trade for a quarterback has to be the Seahawks. As of now, they are scheduled to start Drew Lock start. That being said, this isn’t a post about the Seahawks getting a quarterback. Instead, if this team truly intends on tanking, they may opt to trade star receiver D.K. Metcalf instead.

No one is denying that Metcalf is a supremely talented receiver, as his ability to stretch the field at his size is impressive. That said, odds are he regresses this season due to lacking quarterback play. The Seahawks could net a good haul by trading him now. The alternative is that he sticks around this season, struggles some, and then is a free agent next year.

Him being a free agent doesn’t mean he won’t be back with Seattle. They could franchise tag him or sign him to a new deal. That said, he will likely want to be one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.

The Seahawks may not want to pay that price while they are rebuilding. Instead, they can trade him, net some more picks, and move along with their tank season in 2022.
