NFL 2022: Ranking the top 43 quarterbacks in the league
No. 34 NFL quarterback in 2022: Daniel Jones, New York Giants
This has got to be the final straw for Daniel Jones, right?
The New York Giants didn’t do much to go out and upgrade the quarterback position this offseason, only really raising the floor behind Jones with the acquisition of the aforementioned Tyrod Taylor.
Given Taylor’s experience as a starter and how solid he looked last year to open the season with the Houston Texans, that move might pay dividends for the Giants if they want to compete for the NFC East right away and expedite that “rebuild”.
With a new head coach in Brian Daboll, fresh off of one of the most miraculous quarterback development jobs in recent memory with Josh Allen in Buffalo, the Giants could be poised to see a drastic change — for the better — offensively in 2022.
The question is — can Daniel Jones take a step forward?
At this point in time, I don’t think it’s even arguable that he is one of the worst starters in the league. He turns the ball over at way too high of a rate and has an obscenely low touchdown percentage (under three percent) over the last two seasons and over 800 passes combined.
I think Jones will be in competition for his job this offseason with Tyrod Taylor and I’m not confident he’s going to win it.
