NFL 2022: Ranking the top 43 quarterbacks in the league
No. 31 NFL quarterback in 2022: Drew Lock, Seattle Seahawks
I still believe there’s something there with Drew Lock.
Going from Rich Scangarello’s offense in Denver in 2019 to Pat Shurmur’s offense in 2020 and 2021 was a nightmare scenario for the young Lock, who has had about 136 different offensive coordinators in the last eight years of football he’s played.
A transition back to the Shanahan/Kubiak/McVay type of offense under Shane Waldron in Seattle is going to be a very welcomed transition for Lock, who has no shortage of playmakers (yet again) to work with in Seattle.
Not to mention, an almost completely overhauled offensive line.
Lock goes from throwing to Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Tim Patrick to throwing to DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and D’Wayne Eskridge.
He’s got Noah Fant coming with him.
The Seahawks also re-signed Will Dissly and Rashaad Penny. They used one of their top picks in the 2022 NFL Draft on Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker.
Could there be growing pains for bookend rookie tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas? Sure, but there are promising days ahead for this Seahawks core and if Drew Lock can win the starting job, he stands to benefit greatly.
He’s got a big arm and tremendous athleticism.
Traits have never been in question for Lock.
What he needs to figure out ASAP is why odd mistakes with the ball constantly follow him around.
