No. 23 NFL quarterback in 2022: Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

The situation surrounding Baker Mayfield right now is a massive bummer, for a variety of reasons.

First of all, it feels like it was just yesterday that Mayfield was being celebrated as one of the bright young stars of the NFL.

Now, just four years into his NFL career, we’re all wondering where Mayfield is going to play in 2022 and beyond because the Browns moved on from him for Deshaun Watson.

The former top overall pick and Heisman winner needs a new home in the NFL and I think he’s going to find one soon, whether that’s in Seattle or Carolina or Houston.

For the time being, Mayfield will have to wonder like everyone else what his future might hold.

Mayfield undoubtedly was a spark for the Cleveland Browns organization. This franchise is 29-30 with Mayfield as the starting quarterback, including 11-5 during the 2020 season.

Is that overwhelming success? No, of course not, but the Browns weren’t even sniffing 11-5 before Mayfield’s arrival and he also helped them to a playoff win over their division rivals in Pittsburgh during that 2020 season.

I think Mayfield still has a bright future in the NFL and I hope he lands in a great situation so he can prove the Browns wrong for moving on from him.
