No. 17 NFL quarterback in 2022: Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders

Is Carson Wentz unanimously beloved? No.

Is he consistent? No.

Is he still one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league? I believe so.

Physically, Wentz is an incredibly gifted dude. He was the second overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft and his combination of talent and athleticism hasn’t exactly disappeared.

This guy can sling the ball around the yard.

The Indianapolis Colts simply weren’t willing to stick with Wentz after a 98 percent chance of making the playoffs disappeared in the final two games of the 2021 season.

Apparently, the organization held Wentz solely accountable for that.

Part of that is understandable.

At the same time, you don’t have quarterbacks that can throw 27 touchdowns compared to just seven interceptions growing on trees.

The Washington Commanders have been starved for competent quarterback play for as long as just about any team in the NFL.

They have not found anyone that can solidify that spot but they are obviously hoping that Wentz can figure it out.

He’ll have better receivers in Washington than he had with the Colts — at least, in my opinion they are better — and a great defense to lean on as well.
