No. 16 NFL quarterback in 2022: Matt Ryan Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are hoping they can follow in the footsteps of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams and win the Super Bowl with a veteran QB joining their squad.
I’m just not certain the Colts made the right call this offseason.
Time will tell.
Were Matt Ryan’s wings being clipped with the Atlanta Falcons?
It’s certainly possible.
With that said, I’m just not so sure the Colts are getting the “Matty Ice” of old in 2022. This move could turn out to be a sequel to the Philip Rivers move for the Colts a couple of years ago, and there’s nothing really wrong with that.
Rivers helped get the Colts to the playoffs, and Matt Ryan is good enough to help the Colts get there as well.
Ryan just turned 37 this month and will obviously have a lot of pressure on him now that he’s changed teams for the first time in his illustrious career.
Ryan won the MVP as recent as the 2016 season and he can still put up big numbers.
My biggest questions here — do the Colts have enough weapons in the passing game for Ryan? Are they going to be fine at the left tackle position?
Having a smart veteran like Ryan should be a breath of fresh air for the Colts, at least in terms of what we all perceive they are looking for at the position right now — veteran savvy, some serious clout, and leadership in the locker room.
