NFL 2022: Ranking the top 43 quarterbacks in the league
No. 11 NFL quarterback in 2022: Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
It feels like the Arizona Cardinals and Kyler Murray are at a real crossroads with each other.
Although earlier in the offseason, it felt like Murray was using social media to express his disdain with the team and perhaps contract negotiations (or lack thereof), it stands to reason that cooler heads have prevailed here.
The Cardinals must have given Murray some assurance that something was on the horizon, because Murray’s tune has changed.
The Cardinals traded for one of his best buddies during the 2022 NFL Draft when they acquired Marquise Brown from the Baltimore Ravens.
Brown’s arrival comes at a perfect time because the Cardinals will be without DeAndre Hopkins for the first six games of the 2022 season due to suspension.
Murray has been pretty much exactly as advertised coming out of Oklahoma. He’s a dynamic dual-threat at the quarterback position whose ability to make plays with his legs is overshadowed only by his elite arm talent.
He’s so dynamic and explosive as an athlete, but he is also still growing and evolving as a passer.
As his game continues to grow, so should the Arizona offense.
Not having Hopkins for a handful of games could be a blessing in disguise for this team if Murray can spread the ball around and really gain some trust with the other targets in this offense.
The Cardinals brought back Zach Ertz, they brought back AJ Green, they brought in Hollywood Brown, and they’ve got Rondale Moore coming off of his rookie season where he showed some promise.
Don’t be shocked if Murray can top 40 total touchdowns this season.
