No. 5 NFL trade of 2022: AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles

This trade is still a little hard for me to fathom.

Caught up in the mayhem that was the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft already, the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans came together in the middle of the first round for a massive trade that certainly shakes up both the NFC East and AFC South.

From the Titans’ perspective, trading away AJ Brown for a first and third-round pick seems about on-par with some of the other trades we’ve seen in the 2022 offseason, at least value-wise.

Brown has nearly averaged 1,000 yards per season through his first three years in the NFL and the Eagles got him for the price of pick no. 18 overall as well as a borderline irrelevant third-round pick.

I realize that statement is bordering on contradictory based on the fact that I said I loved the value the Cardinals were getting back with a late third-round pick in the Hollywood Brown trade, but this is different.

The Eagles got a much better player, in my opinion, at a similar price.

Brown has become one of the league’s best receivers after the catch and gives Jalen Hurts a dynamic weapon to go along with 2021 first-round pick DeVonta Smith and stud tight end Dallas Goedert.

Imagine if the Eagles could get something out of Jalen Reagor this year, too…

Acquiring AJ Brown for a mid-first-round pick was highway robbery. This was a great deal for the Eagles.
