Minnesota Vikings: Eric Kendricks, LB

A former second-round pick out of UCLA, Eric Kendricks has spent the past seven seasons playing middle linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings. He’s had at least 92 tackles in every season and has racked up more than 100 in each of the past six years.

He’s been such a solid presence that he was awarded a five-year, $50 million contract with half of it being guaranteed back in 2018. Now heading into 2022, he’s still a very good player but he will also count for $13 million against the cap.

To put that in perspective, Jordan Hikcs — who has had over 100 tackles in each of the past three seasons — will count just $3.5 million. Minnesota is tight with the cap and moving on from Kendricks would save them $9 million.

New England Patriots: N’Keal Harry, WR

At this point, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see N’Keal Harry playing elsewhere in 2022. What would be a bit of a surprise is if he’s outright cut by the New England Patriots.

Harry was a first-round pick in 2019 and has just 598 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons. He hasn’t been a great fit in New England and now has to contend with DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers, and Tyquan Thornton.

With all those players under contract, Harry is a long shot to make the team but someone should be willing to part with a pick. But there’s a chance teams will roll the dice and allow New England to expose him to the rest of the NFL.
