New Orleans Saints: Jarvis Landry, WR

Yes, he just signed with them but there are no guarantees Jarvis Landry makes it with the New Orleans Saints.

Landry was still eyeing a huge payday after being cut by the Cleveland Browns but there were no takers. In the end, he signed a one-year deal with New Orleans which could be worth “up to $6 million” but that’s only if he hits some huge incentives.

With a suddenly packed receiving corps, he might not only fail to hit the incentives but there’s a scenario where he doesn’t make it to Week 1. Right now, New Orleans has Michael Thomas and Chris Olave entrenched as the No. 1 and No. 2.

Behind them, there’s also Marquez Callaway and Tre’Quan Smith. Callaway easily outperformed Landry in 2021 and before anyone says there were no other options for New Orleans to throw to, the same was true in Cleveland with Landry.

Even Smith has proven to be more explosive and had more receiving touchdowns than Landry despite netting just 32 receptions. Landry is more name than game right now and he can change that with a solid preseason, but if not, it might be the younger — healthier — guys who make the cut.

New York Giants: Julian Love, S

Michael Nitti of GMen HQ had a few names that could be surprise cuts for the New York Giants and one of those was defensive back Julian Love.

Nitti says Love hasn’t been bad but also hasn’t been great — while adding the fact that the d-coordinator stayed the same could help Love.

"“By cutting Love, the Giants would save $2.54 million in cap space while eating just $192,715 in dead cap. With defensive coordinator Patrick Graham likely retaining his role, it’s entirely possible he has a significant influence on the defensive personnel roster-wise, which could be good news for Love. Despite that, cutting a depth piece in the final year of his rookie deal to save a few million is feasible enough to be in the cards for Schoen.” — Nitti, GMen HQ"

New York is in the midst of a roster overhaul, so no one is safe at this point — especially someone who can save them money with very little cap hit.
