Cincinnati Bengals: Mike Hilton, CB

After four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Hilton joined a divisional rival as he signed a four-year deal worth $24 million with the Cincinnati Bengals. At the time, they were trying to rebuild their secondary but now heading into the 2022 season, they’re looking a bit crowded.

Chidobe Awuzie has been their top corner and Elie Apple was the No. 2 guy and came back on a one-year deal. On top of that, Cincinnati just added Cam Britt-Taylor in the draft — as well as Dax Hill who can play safety as well as cover in the slot.

That could lead to them deciding to move on from Hilton after just one season, which would save them $4 million.

Cleveland Browns: D’Ernest Johnson

The Cleveland Browns overhauled much of their roster this offseason — adding big names such as Deshaun Watson and Amari Cooper. They also let go of Jarvis Landry as they looked to save some money.

Now, there aren’t many cuts left that could save them money — except maybe Kareem Hunt and D’Ernest Johnson. Both have no guarantees and would leave no dead money. And with Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford also there, they could afford to lose one of them.

In the end, they would likely keep Hunt who excels as a pass-catcher. Johnson would still be a surprise cut simply due to his talent being worth the $2.4 million they would save.
