The Dallas Cowboys have built plenty of depth on their roster, which could lead to these three players being traded before the start of the 2022 season

Heading into the 2022 season, the Dallas Cowboys are hoping to get farther than they did the season before.

After suffering a playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas was able to keep their coaching staff intact — despite both coordinators interviewing for head coaching jobs.

While the coaches stayed put, they had a lot of changes to their roster. Key players such as Randy Gregory and Amari Cooper are gone and they did next to nothing in free agency.

Still, they have some depth along the roster which could lead to one of these three players being on the trade block before the start of the 2022 season.

Dallas Cowboys trade piece No. 3: Connor McGovern, OG

This wouldn’t be the first time trade talks were mentioned around Dallas Cowboys guard Connor McGovern. He was apparently a target for teams in 2021 and while Dallas didn’t take any offers then, they could now that they enter the 2022 season and seem content with Tyler Smith at left guard.

McGovern was a third-round pick in 2020 and it was a bit of a shock since they had many other needs — and apparently didn’t even meet with McGovern. However, he’s still considered a potential starter and while he doesn’t seem to be in the good graces of this staff, he could be elsewhere.

Like all players mentioned in this piece, McGovern wouldn’t net a lot in return but a late-round pick in 2023 could be better than simply waiving him if he’s no longer in the plans.
