Building an offense with remaining NFL free agents

Left tackle – Duane Brown, Left guard – Quinton Spain, Center – J.C. Tretter, Right guard -Ereck Flowers, Right tackle – Daryl Williams

Tell me this offensive line isn’t at least league average?

You’ve got two solid tackles, an elite center, and average guards.

That’s plenty good enough.  In fact, I’d take this unit over what teams like the Seahawks, Texans, and Jaguars currently have.

Duane Brown has been an above-average left tackle his entire career.  He’ll be 37 and was drafted in 2008, recently playing for the Seahawks.  He’s still got some left in the tank.

Quinton Spain was undrafted in 2015 and played for the Titans, Bills, and Bengals.  He’s perhaps the most average player in the entire NFL but unfortunately did not make the cut for the Bengals offensive line overhaul.

He should find himself starting a few games this year.  He’s also massive, standing a 6’4″ and weighing 330 pounds.

J.C. Tretter has been one of the best centers over the last decade, playing for both the Packers and Browns, who he was recently released by.  Look for a team like the Ravens or Dolphins to sign him before the season.

He’s still in his early 30s, which is rather young for the offensive line.  He should be able to play for several more years if he wanted.

Ereck Flowers can play both inside and out, but struggles as a tackle.  He’s a serviceable guard who recently played for the Commanders in 2021.  He’s another average player who should find work this season and start a few games.

Daryl Williams is the right tackle.  He’s appeared in every game since 2019 and can also play inside and out.

He was a rookie in 2015 and turns 30 in August, so he should have a market at some point.

Williams was very good for the Bills, but they decided to run with second-year man Spencer Brown at right tackle.

There are a plethora of teams who have a less ideal right tackle situation, so Daryl Williams should be able to find work.
